Initial Editorial Screening
Upon submission, the Editor‑in‑Chief performs a preliminary assessment to ensure the manuscript aligns with TMI’s scope, meets basic formatting standards, and demonstrates scientific novelty. Manuscripts failing this check may be desk‑rejected; otherwise, they proceed to peer review.
Double‑Blind Review
We follow a strict double‑blind peer-review model: reviewers do not know the authors’ identities and vice versa. This approach minimizes potential bias based on institutional or personal affiliations.
Manuscript Registration & Communication
Upon acceptance for review, the corresponding author receives a registration number and the contact details of the handling scientific editor. From this point, all communication regarding the review process should be with the handling editor or via the journal’s submission system.
Reviewer Selection & Timeline
Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two expert referees. Reviewers are expected to complete their evaluation within 4 weeks. If no response is received within one month, reminder emails are sent, and alternative reviewers may be appointed.
Review Reports & Editorial Decision
Reviewers evaluate originality, methodology, clarity, and relevance to TMI’s scope. Their feedback informs one of four editorial decisions:
Accept without revision
Accept with minor revisions
Accept with major revisions
Reject
When revisions are requested, authors must submit a detailed response addressing each reviewer comment. The revised manuscript may undergo additional review.
Final Decision & Publication Preparation
The handling editor and Editorial Board make the final publication decision based on the reviewers’ comments. Accepted manuscripts must be submitted in editable formats (MS Word for text, Excel for tables). A PDF galley proof is then sent to the corresponding author; corrections must be returned within 2 working days.
Turnaround Time
The full process from submission to final acceptance typically spans 3 to 12 months, depending on review rounds and revision complexity.
